For the Detroit Lions to make the NFL playoffs, they will need to have a winning record. As a team in the tough NFC North division with the Packers, Vikings, and Bears, they will likely need to win at least 9 or 10 games to earn a playoff spot.
Some keys for the Lions to make the playoffs include:
- Staying healthy, especially quarterback Matthew Stafford needs to stay on the field
- Improving the defense which has struggled in recent years
- Winning games against divisional opponents like Green Bay and Minnesota
- Getting contributions from young players like T.J. Hockenson, Jeff Okudah and D'Andre Swift
- Winning close games, the Lions have lost several games the past few years by small margins
If the Lions can get above average quarterback play from Stafford, get the defense to around a top 15 unit, and win the games they are expected to, they have a good chance to win 9-10 games and make the NFC playoffs for the first time since 2016.
