The Detroit Lions need some things to go their way to make the playoffs this season.
- First, they will likely need to finish with a record of 9-8 or better. The NFC is competitive so they can't afford many more losses.
- They need some NFC North rivals like the Packers and Vikings to stumble down the stretch. Both teams are ahead of the Lions currently.
- They will need strong performances from quarterback Jared Goff as well as the running game led by D'Andre Swift.
- The defense needs to improve on creating turnovers and stopping opponents in the red zone.
- They have a few games remaining against playoff contenders like the Eagles, Bills and Packers that they will need to win.
- They may need a little luck with other NFC wild card contenders losing some key games.
If the Lions can win most of their remaining games against weaker opponents and take one from a playoff team, they have a shot. But they have little margin for error at this point in the season.
