How Can Tuberville Hold Up Nominations?

When it comes to holding up nominations, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell controls the Senate schedule and determines which nominees receive votes. As majority leader, McConnell has the power to refuse to schedule votes on nominations, effectively stalling or blocking them. He has done this numerous times with nominations from President Barack Obama during Obama's presidency. However, McConnell needs the support of a majority of Republican senators to maintain his position as majority leader and control of the schedule. It's possible for individual Republican senators like Tommy Tuberville to push McConnell to schedule votes on certain nominations by threatening to withhold their support as majority if he does not comply.
