How Much Can A Gorilla Bench?

Gorillas are exceptionally strong primates. The average male western lowland gorilla can exert about 10 times as much force as a human when bench pressing.

Studies have found that male gorillas are capable of bench pressing over 4,000 pounds (1,800 kg)! That's equivalent to lifting 17 average adult humans at once. Their incredible upper body strength comes from large muscle mass and leverage from their long arms.

Females are also quite strong, though not as much as males. The average female western lowland gorilla can bench press around 2,000 pounds (900 kg).

So in summary - a dominant male gorilla's bench press max is over 4,000 pounds, while females can lift close to 2,000 pounds. Their natural strength far surpasses even the greatest human powerlifters.
