How To Breed Congle?

To breed congle fish, you will need:

  • A breeding tank that is at least 20 gallons in size for each adult pair.
  • A filter to keep the water clean and oxygenated.
  • A heater to keep the water temperature between 75-80°F.
  • Hides and plants for the fish to feel secure.
  • A mixture of freeze-dried foods, flakes, and live or frozen brine shrimp and bloodworms to feed the adult fish.

Look for signs that the female congle is ready to breed such as swollen belly, clouded eyes. Introduce the male and look for them to start circling each other. The female will deposit eggs on a flat surface like a leaf. The male will then fertilize the eggs. Remove the adults and leave the eggs undisturbed. In 5-7 days, the fry will hatch and be free-swimming. Start feeding newly hatched brine shrimp and continue to separate them as they grow larger.
