To breed ostriches, you will need at least one male (cock) ostrich and one or more female (hen) ostriches. Ostriches reach sexual maturity at around 18 months old. During mating season, which lasts from March through May in the northern hemisphere, the male ostrich will display to attract females. This involves dancing, bowing, and spreading his wings. If a female is receptive, she will approach the male and mating can occur. Ostriches lay their eggs in nests on the ground. Once she has laid all her eggs, which is typically 1-3 eggs over the course of 2-4 days, the female will incubate them for around 42 days until they hatch.
