Body Mass Index (BMI) is a measure of body fat based on height and weight.
To calculate your BMI:
- Measure your height in inches.
- Weigh yourself in pounds.
- Use the BMI calculator: Weight (lbs) / [Height (in)]2 x 703
For example, if you are 5 feet 5 inches (65 inches) tall and weigh 140 pounds:
- Height in inches is 65
- Weight in pounds is 140
- Plug into the formula: 140 / (65)2 x 703 = 23.5
This would give a BMI of 23.5, which is in the normal/healthy range.
Consult BMI charts to see where your number falls and what it means for your weight status.
