How To Cook A Turkey?

Here are the basic steps to cook a turkey:

Preparation

Remove the neck and giblets from the cavity of the turkey and reserve for making gravy. Rinse the turkey inside and out with cold water and pat dry with paper towels.

Seasoning

Rub the outside of the turkey with softened butter, olive oil, or vegetable oil. Generously season the inside cavity and all over the outside with salt and pepper.

Roasting

Preheat the oven to 325°F. Place the turkey, breast side up, on a rack in a roasting pan. Tent the turkey loosely with foil, sealing the edges to prevent steaming. Roast uncovered for 13-15 minutes per pound, until the internal temperature in the thickest part of the breast reaches 165°F and the thighs reach 175°F.

Resting

Remove the turkey from the oven and allow it to rest, tented with foil, for 20 minutes before carving. The temperature will continue to rise as it rests.

Serving

Carve the turkey and serve with your favorite sides like mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, vegetables, and more.
