Here are the steps to fill out a check:
- Write out the numeric amount in the space provided near the lower left corner of the check. For example, if paying one hundred dollars, write "100" and to the right of the dollar sign.
- Write out the amount in words in the space near the top left. For one hundred dollars, write "One Hundred Dollars".
- Date the check by writing out the date (month, day, year) just below the written amount.
- Fill in the payee field by writing the name of the person or business you are paying in the line provided near the top center of the check.
- Sign the check with your signature in the signature line at the bottom.
- Optional: You can write a memo in the space provided near the lower right to indicate what the payment is for (such as "rent" or "car payment").
Be sure to write clearly and fill out all required fields completely to avoid any issues cashing the check.
