How To Find Standard Deviation?

To find the standard deviation of a data set:

  1. Find the mean (average) of the data set.
  2. Calculate the deviations from the mean by subtracting the mean from each data point and squaring the results.
  3. Add up all the squared deviations and divide by one less than the number of data points.
  4. Take the square root of the result. This is the standard deviation.

The standard deviation measures how far the data points are spread out from the mean. A lower standard deviation indicates the data points are clustered more closely to the mean, while a higher standard deviation indicates they are more spread out.
