How To Make Mashed Potatoes?

To make mashed potatoes, peel and cut russet potatoes into cubes. Place the potato cubes in a pot and cover with cold water. Bring to a boil over high heat then reduce heat and simmer until very tender, about 15-20 minutes.

Drain the potatoes well and return them to the pot. Mash the potatoes using a potato masher or electic mixer until smooth and lump-free. Add milk or cream and butter and continue mashing until light and fluffy. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

For extra richness, you can add more butter, cream, sour cream or cheese. Garlic, chives or bacon can also be mixed in. Serve mashed potatoes warm alongside your favorite meats and vegetables.
