Understand the Types of Hands
In poker, hands are ranked based on different card combinations. The best hands include royal flushes, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, etc. Know the ranking of hands before playing.
Buy Into a Game
To play, you'll need to buy chips from the dealer or house. Bring cash to exchange for colorful poker chips that represent monetary value in the game.
Receive Your Hole Cards
After putting chips in the pot, the dealer will deal you two face down cards known as your "hole cards". Keep these cards private until it's time to show them.
Bet Rounds
Take turns betting with the other players based on the community cards revealed and your hole cards. Raise, call or fold during betting rounds to stay in the hand.
Showdown
If there are multiple players remaining after betting, a showdown occurs where you reveal your cards to determine the winning hand.
