To put together a futon, follow these steps:
- Lay out the futon frame on the floor and unfold the legs so it stands upright.
- Unfold the futon mattress and place it on top of the frame, making sure it is centered.
- Attach the back support board if your futon frame has one. It usually clips onto the back of the frame to provide support when the futon is in couch position.
- Optional: Place a mattress pad or sheet over the futon mattress and attach with elastic straps if it is not permanently attached.
- You can now use your futon as a couch. To convert it to a bed, simply pull the back down so it is flat.
