Here are some tips for removing acrylic nails at home:
To start, soak your fingers in acetone nail polish remover for 10-15 minutes. The longer soak time helps soften the acrylic so it is easier to remove. You can also wrap cotton balls soaked in acetone around your fingertips while you wait.
Once the acrylic is soft, gently push back the free edge of the nail with an orange stick or toothpick. Be careful not to accidentally push the skin back. Go slowly to avoid damage to your natural nail.
When you'veloosened the free edge, gently scrape away the acrylic using a nail tool or old credit card. Scrape from the outer edge inward toward the cuticle. Rinse your fingers occasionally in acetone to soften the acrylic further as you work.
Some stubborn acrylic may require repeated scraping and soaking. Be patient and take your time to avoid damaging your natural nails. Use acetone on a cotton ball or pad to wipe away any remaining fragments.
Once all the acrylic is removed, wash your hands and moisturize the nails and cuticles. Wait a few days before getting a new set to give your natural nails time to strengthen after removal.
