Here are some ways to remove a security tag without using a magnet:
1. Use a knife or other thin, pointed object like an ice pick to carefully wedge into the seam and pry it apart. Go slowly to avoid damaging the item.
2. Slide a flathead screwdriver into the seam and gently twist and turn it to break the plastic clips holding it together. Go slowly and use caution to avoid ripping the item.
3. Put duct tape or double-sided tape over the security tag and rip it off forcefully. The stickiness of the tape may help detach the tag without damaging the item.
4. Drill or carefully cut through the plastic or metal of the tag to physically remove it. Go slowly to avoid damaging the item underneath. Consider using a Dremel tool with a cutting attachment.
5. Use a bolt cutter, wire cutter or strong scissors to snip through the softer plastic parts of the tag. Go slowly and carefully to avoid damaging the item.
6. As a last resort, carefully heat the seam of the tag with a hair dryer on high heat for a minute or two. The heat may cause the plastic to soften enough for the tag to be pried or peeled apart without damaging the item.
