Restringing a Ryobi weed eater is a simple process that only takes a few minutes. Here are the basic steps:
- Cut the existing line to remove the worn sections. Leave about 6 inches of line remaining on the spool.
- Insert one end of the new replacement line into the exit slot on the spool housing. Leave about 6 inches extending outside.
- Wind the new line tightly and evenly onto the spool in a figure 8 pattern until there is no more room or the line cuts off. Try to avoid winding over the same spot multiple times.
- Close the spool housing cover securely. Make sure it clicks into place.
- Feed the line out of the exit slot by pulling on the line ends until several inches extend past the head. Then, trim the line ends so they are even.
- Your Ryobi weed eater is now restrung and ready to use again.
Be sure to wear gloves, eye protection and follow all other safety precautions when restringing. With a few minutes of time, your Ryobi trimmer will have a fresh supply of cutting line.
