Sweatpants can lose their shape over time from regular washing and wearing. Restringing them helps restore their fitted look by tightening the elastic around the waist and ankles.
Materials Needed:
- Elastic cord
- Sewing needle
- Thread
Instructions:
- Turn the sweatpants inside out.
- Thread the needle and knot one end of the elastic cord.
- Starting at the center back waistband, sew the elastic to the inside of the waistband all the way around by hand, pulling it taut as you go.
- Knot the other end when you meet back up at the center.
- Repeat the process for the ankles, sewing the elastic inside the hem all the way around each leg opening.
Once the elastic is restrung, turn the sweatpants right side out. They should now have a fitted waist and snug ankle cuffs again. Wash on a gentle cycle to complete the restoration.
