Cordylines are tropical plants that can experience stress if the conditions are not right. Here are some tips to bring a cordyline plant back from the brink:
Check the Soil
Feel the soil and make sure it is not soaked. Cordylines like moist but well-draining soil. Repot the plant using fresh potting mix if the existing soil is compacted.
Increase Water
Water the plant thoroughly until water drains from the bottom of the pot. Make sure the soil does not stay soggy. Water whenever the top inch of soil feels dry.
Fertilize Sparingly
Give the plant a small amount of water-soluble fertilizer every 2 weeks during the growing season to boost growth. Too much fertilizer can burn the roots.
Move to Bright Indoor Spot
Cordylines need lots of light. Move the plant to a spot near an east or west-facing window where it receives indirect sunlight for at least 6 hours daily.
Be Patient
It may take several weeks to see new growth after making changes. Continue caring for the plant and remove any leaves or stems that continue dying back.
