Here are the steps to sterilise baby bottles:
- Wash all parts of the bottle with warm soapy water and rinse thoroughly.
- Boil water in a pot on the stove. Once boiling, gently lower the bottle parts into the water and boil for 5 minutes.
- Let the bottles air dry completely before assembling and filling. Make sure all parts are completely dry before use to prevent mould or bacteria growth.
- You can also sterilise bottles in the dishwasher by running the hottest cycle or using the sterilise setting if your dishwasher has one.
- Microwave sterilisers are also available which steam sterilise bottles. Follow the instructions for your specific steriliser.
Sterilising bottles before every use is important for the first few months until your baby's immune system matures. It kills any germs and bacteria to keep bottles hygienic and baby safe.
