How To Stop Hiccups?

Here are some tips to try and get rid of hiccups:

  • Take deep breaths in through your nose and out through your mouth.
  • Drink a glass of water slowly.
  • Eat a tablespoon of sugar or peanut butter.
  • Hold your breath for as long as you comfortably can.
  • Gargle with water or suck on a lemon wedge.
  • Apply gentle pressure to your upper abdomen or diaphragm area with your hands.
  • Massage the muscles in your neck and throat.

If your hiccups persist for more than 48 hours or you experience pain, see your doctor to rule out any underlying issues. But usually taking a few deep breaths is enough to stop hiccups in their tracks.
