How To Tie A Tie?

Here are the basic steps to tie a tie:

  1. Place the wide end of the tie around your neck with the skinny end hanging straight down. The wide end should be about a hand's length below the skinny end.
  2. Pass the wide end up through the loop under the collar and pull it down so the knot forms beneath the collar.
  3. Take the wide end and pass it from right to left around the skinny end and then pass it up from left to right through the loop around your neck.
  4. Pass the wide end down through the loop you just created.
  5. With your fingers, tighten the knot by holding the skinny end and sliding the knot up against your collar.
  6. Once the knot is tight, adjust the length of the skinny end so it hangs straight down from the knot.

Be sure to practice until you can tie your tie smoothly. With practice, tying a tie will become second nature.
