How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World is a 2018 American computer-animated action fantasy film produced by DreamWorks Animation and distributed by Universal Pictures.

It is the sequel to 2014's How to Train Your Dragon 2 and the third and final installment in the How to Train Your Dragon film series, based on the book series of the same name by Cressida Cowell. The film was directed by Dean DeBlois, who also co-directed the first film with Chris Sanders, and wrote and directed the second film. In The Hidden World, Hiccup and Toothless finally discover their true destinies: the village of Berk along with its dragons must hidden in a secret sanctuary to avoid the threat of an aggressive dragon hunter named Grimmel.

Plot

Five years after ending the dragon-Viking war, Hiccup and Toothless have successfully created a peaceable home for dragons and humans. However, this newfound tranquility is threatened by the arrival of a female Light Fury, who teaches Toothless to fire his plasma blasts accurately. Their growing bond unsettles Hiccup and begins changing Toothless. Meanwhile, dragons are still being hunted and trapped by Grimmel, a notorious dragon hunter. Determined to protect his village and home, Hiccup must find the Hidden World, a secret dragon utopia, and lead all of Berk's dragons to safety, even if it means saying goodbye to Toothless.

Reception

The film received critical acclaim, with many praising its animation, voice performances, musical score, emotional depth and storytelling. It grossed over $521 million worldwide, making it the highest-grossing film in the trilogy.
