"Stepmom, I'm having trouble with this math problem, can you show me how to do it?" Emily asked nervously.

"Sure sweetie, let me take a look," replied Emily's stepmother Sarah as she sat down next to Emily on the couch. Sarah reviewed the problem and nodded, "Okay, I see why this one is tricky. Pay attention and I'll walk through it step-by-step."

Sarah demonstrated the steps to solve the algebra equation, speaking clearly and making sure to explain her thinking as she went. Emily watched closely, fascinated. When Sarah was done, Emily smiled widely. "I think I get it now! Thank you so much for showing me - it makes much more sense seeing someone do it."

"You're very welcome honey. I'm always here if you need help with homework or anything else. Now, how about we celebrate with some cookies?" Sarah replied with a wink. Emily laughed and agreed, feeling lucky to have such a kind stepmom.
